청연시리즈는 우아한 선과 수려한 곡선의 한국 전통 미학을 바탕으로 제작하였다. 작품은 화려하고 힘찬 필치로 운동감을 감각적으로전달하며, 동시에 유연하고 부드러운 움직임으로 연꽃의 자연미와 우아함을 시각적으로 표현하였다. 코밭트와 다양한 금속으로 구성된 한국의 전통적인 청색 안료인 청화의 사용은 부드러운 색에서 강렬한 색까지 다양한 색을 만들 수 있게 한다.
